  • Honorary Doctorate of human letters honoris causa by Yeshiva University of New York, May 2011.
  • In 2010, he received the Primo Levi Award for Peace and Culture at a ceremony in Rome.
  • Honorary Doctorate of philosophy degrees by Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem, June 2009
  • Honorary Doctorate by Bar-Ilan University, Tel Aviv, May 2009
  • National Jewish Book Award for the 2008 book Holocaust by Bullets (Palgrave-Macmillan).
  • Laureate of the “Prix Éthique et Société – Gilles Simon”, Paris, November 2008.
  • Laureate of the “Prix de l’Amitié Judéo-Chrétienne”, Paris, October 2008.
  • Honored with Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur for research work on the Holocaust in Ukraine, presented by President Nicolas Sarkozy, June 2008.
