New on Yahad’s web site

Yahad – In Unum is pleased to present the village-by-village reports on the Holocaust by bullets, including extracts of videotaped testimony of eyewitnesses..  Located in the site’s “
Broad Daylight” section (under “Research Results”) the first 12 villages are posted on the site.  In addition to the English-subtitled video extracts, each village page includes the date(s) of Yahad’s research visit, the number of execution sites identified and citations from archival records. Researchers and family members interested in viewing online the full (non-subtitled) videos of interviews can request the videos in the site’sregistered users area.  Additional village pages are being prepared for the Broad Daylight database, which will eventually include the more than 400 villages already investigated by Yahad as well as the estimated 100 villages per year being added to the database from ongoing research trips. comment on new web site

Yahad’s work featured on UN education site

The Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme of the Department of Public Information has published on its web site an
article on the Holocaust by Bullets as part of its series of discussion papers written by experts on the Holocaust and genocide. The article, authored by Father Desbois, is for use by educators at secondary schools and universities around the world to further understanding of the Holocaust as well as the underlying causes of and issues involved in the prevention of genocide and to provide a forum for classroom discussion. The paper will be translated into the UN’s officials languages and distributed through its information centers in 63 countries to schools and included in a journal to be published by the UN in print version next year. Past discussion papers have been written by some of the world’s leading voices on the Holocaust including Simone Veil, Elie Wiesel and Yehuda Bauer.

Meet Team Yahad

Each month, we profile one of the dedicated team members who help make the work of Yahad – In Unum possible.

Michel Roux is the secretary general of Yahad – In Unum and a member of its Board of Directors. In addition to preparing Board and assembly meetings, preparing minutes, he acts as a counselor on administrative issues for the association. A native of the Paris area and a graduate of its HEC business school, Michel’s career as a Human Resources executive provided him with extensive experience from which to draw upon in aiding Yahad. He began working with Father Desbois after hearing him speak, drawn by the uniqueness and importance of Yahad’s mission. “I am a great admirer of what he and this organization continue to achieve and proud to be a part of it,” he says. In addition to his work on behalf of Yahad, Michel is involved in the work of other associations, including Espace Cambodge, dedicated to providing support to Cambodian refugees. Michel has three children and two “adorable” grandchildren.
